The NATO American AIR FORCE BASE

Photo by Jerry McAuliffe - 1952From 1952 to 1967, many americans based on the NATO AFB lived in the LAON area with their families. The messages they let on our Guest book or that they send us by e-mail show that they most have good memories of the area, and some of them sometimes come back and visit us for a few days or a few hours. Visits which may be opportunities of very moving reunions.

The trees and hedges have grown up, the houses found each its personality.
We were told that the actual Sault Sainte Marie street (here on the right) was then nicknamed "Snob Hill" because most of its inhabitants were officers.
